Finance Officer

A sector-leading organisation is seeking a Finance Officer to join their close-knit finance team on a permanent basis. They pride themselves on delivering excellent service and maintaining high standards in everything they do. The role offers varied exposure across accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliations, with responsibilities including payment runs, invoice processing, and supplier liaison, as well as opportunities for career development within a dynamic and evolving organisation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Managing accounts payable tasks, including weekly payment runs, invoice processing, and payment reconciliations, while working with suppliers and departments to keep accounts up to date.

2. Providing some support with accounts receivable, mainly through reconciliations and customer account management in the system.

3. Carrying out bank reconciliations, raising purchase orders, and handling both manual and automated processes like scanning and processing invoices.

4. Working with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve queries and ensure smooth transactions.

5. Maintaining accuracy and following internal procedures as part of a small, collaborative finance team.

6. Helping with extra tasks, such as liaising with council tax offices and other third-party organisations.

Person Specification

7. Strong experience in accounts payable, able to quickly take on day-to-day tasks with little supervision.

8. Basic accounting knowledge and good Excel skills, including account reconciliations and using formulas.

9. Experience with Yardi or similar systems is desirable.

10. Great communication skills for working with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders.

11. Proactive and able to work independently, managing workload during busy periods.

12. Experience in real estate, housing, or the commercial sector is helpful but not essential.
