Join our dynamic Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service and play a key role in delivering high-quality outpatient care across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. You'll work with adults across BNSSG, and with adults and children aged 5+ in North Somerset, supporting patients with a wide range of complex musculoskeletal conditions.
This is an exciting opportunity to build on your existing experience while developing advanced clinical skills within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team. Working as an autonomous practitioner, you will assess, diagnose and deliver evidence-based treatment plans for patients with varied and complex presentations, with access to support and specialist advice from the wider MSK and Interface teams when needed.
Our MSK service is part of the specialist services delivered under the community NHS contract and works closely with GPs, consultants and other healthcare professionals across primary care. Care is delivered through face-to-face clinics as well as telephone and video consultations.
Core service hours are Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm (excluding Bank Holidays).
This role is based across BNSSG, with current vacancies in South Gloucestershire and potential opportunities available in Bristol and North Somerset.
Main duties of the job
* You will be highly competent in assessing a wide range of MSK conditions based on comprehensive theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
* You will need to recognise potentially sinister signs and symptoms and contra-indications to treatment and manage these appropriately. This may involve referring on for further investigations.
* Carry out a skilled physiotherapy intervention drawing upon wide ranging evidence base and problem-solving professional knowledge and skills, including specific techniques and tests, gained through specific training and practical experience.
* To evaluate relevant information regarding all aspects of patient care (e.g. test results, assessments from other health professionals, along with the results of own assessment) to develop a clinical diagnosis, prognosis and expected response to treatment
* The post may involve assessing and treating paediatric patients, depending on post location, but appropriate training and support will be provided to enable the candidate to deliver this.
* The post holder will supervise junior physiotherapist, students and physiotherapy assistants and provide education and training to groups of staff and colleagues as required.
* To keep accurate and comprehensive written records, to include reports to medical referrers, adhering to Physiotherapy department and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy standards to comply with professional and legal accountability.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience
* Previous experience of working as an MSK Physiotherapist
* Demonstrable people management skills
* A high level of effective communication and an ability to develop relationships with patients, carers and staff in other teams and organisations
* Highly competent clinical documentation skills
* Evidence of CPD related to MSK physiotherapy
* To be able to travel independently between sites
* Previous NHS clinical experience
Qualifications
* Diploma/ degree in physiotherapy
* HCPC registration
* Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
* M level modules or MSc in related subject
* Member of relevant specialist interest group.
