Job overview

Day to day care of patients on the Orthopaedics Wards.

Supporting trauma services in theatre and clinics.

Full-time including participation in a 24 hour on call rota system.

Main duties of the job

We are ideally looking for a trainee in the early years of their registrar training who can develop their orthopaedic career within this busy, progressive department. The successful applicant’s duties will include operating lists, outpatient clinics (elective and fracture) and ward rounds, with responsibilities for the consultant’s patients on the wards. The post holder is also responsible for the supervision of junior doctors in their day-to-day duties.

There is ample opportunity for training in this role with full supervision in clinics and theatres. The trainee would not have independent operating lists but plenty of operating lists with consultants and senior colleagues. The successful applicant would be expected to participate in a 1-in-8 non-resident 24 hour on call rota.

Your uniqueness and experiences will be part of our creative and innovative community where everyone is encouraged to succeed. We have a range of staff networks to help break down barriers, and can offer a buddy to help new members settle in.

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer (Level 3) and a Veteran Aware Trust.

The post holder accepts that they will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation, where practicable, with their colleagues, both senior and junior.
