Due to expanding our Team following the merge of practices we have a vacancy for Practice Nurse.

We are flexible over full or part time hours.

We have sites in Redcar and Eston and the selected candidate will work across all sites. We also work collaboratively with Woodside Surgery in Loftus.

The selected candidate will see a range of treatment room duties as well as Cervical Screening and Chronic Disease Management.

We are a friendly and supportive GMS practice with full complement of Team.

We have a list size of over 15,000 patients.


Job responsibilities

The Nurse will work as part of the primaryhealthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients ofPractice.

Job Responsibilities:

* Assistin and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the GPs
* Removalof Sutures
* ECGs
* Runningwell person clinics and health promotion programmes by providing aholistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intakeand exercise.
* Assessingproblems presented opportunistically by patients, dealing with minorillness.
* COPD/Asthma/PeakFlow Readings/Spirometry
* Diabetes/CHDManagement
* AssistingGPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
* Requestingpathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
* Ableto recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
* Ableto perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UKguidelines.
* Abilityto obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
* Ensureinfection control guidelines are maintained.
* Followingagreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs asappropriate
* Ensuresawareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, includingsystems of referral. Ability torecognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.
* Cytology
* Offeradvice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines areadministered under patient group directions.
* Offera holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice topatients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex,food hygiene, sun protection.
* Othertasks will include:
* Maintainingand cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
* MaintainingGP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
* Chaperoningand assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
* Maintaingeneral tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
* Participationin administrative systems in the Practice
* Ableto document Consultations according to NMC guidelines
* Attendand participate in any Practice meetings when required.
* Anyother delegated duties appropriate to the post

* Inthe performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, thepost-holder may have access to confidential information relating topatients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcareworkers. They may also have accessto information relating to the Practice as a business organisation.All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
* Informationrelating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or thebusiness of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons inaccordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating toconfidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

The post-holder will assist inpromoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security asdefined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:

* Usingpersonal security systems within the workplace according to Practiceguidelines
* Identifyingthe risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in away that manages those risks
* Makingeffective use of training to update knowledge and skills
* Usingappropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidyand safe way and free from hazards

* Apply Practicepolicies, standards and guidance
* Discuss withother members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines willaffect own work
* Participate inaudit where appropriate
