Head of Digital Services
£65,343 – £72,720, 35 hours per week, Permanent position, Dundee. Closing date: 8.00am Monday 15 June 2026.
About the role
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) seeks an experienced and forward‑thinking Head of Digital Services to provide strategic leadership across the digital and technology function amid ongoing organisational and sectoral change. This leadership role demands setting direction, clarifying priorities, and ensuring digital services meet the needs of social service workers, employers, students, staff, and the public. The role requires translating technical choices into clear organisational and public benefits, rather than technocentrism.
Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Business Services, the Head will lead a multidisciplinary digital services team. Strategic leadership is complemented by governance and assurance responsibilities, overseeing digital delivery, cybersecurity, data protection, business continuity, and risk management. The role operates at both strategic and operational levels, advising senior stakeholders and governing bodies while fostering continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.

* Strong track record of developing and delivering digital strategies and leading digital change or transformation.

* Deep understanding of cyber security, data protection, business continuity and digital resilience.
* Proven people‑leadership skills, with a history of developing multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience working with senior leaders, boards and external stakeholders.
* Experience in the public sector, regulatory environments or delivering user‑centred digital services is advantageous.
