Due to project growth, we are looking for a Senior Document Controller to join a landmark energy project in Teesside. The Document Control/Information Management Department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management, security, and accessibility of documents and information across all projects and operational levels. This department is central to the company's ability to execute projects effectively, comply with regulatory requirements, and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
Based in Teesside, a minimum of 3 days a week on site.

Responsibilities
* Implement and manage document control procedures, processes and systems for accurate recording, updating, and tracking of all project documents; maintain accurate records of company documentation.
* Ensure all documentation, including drawings, reports, and records, meets quality standards and complies with project requirements and industry regulations as defined by the Document Management Plan (DMP).
* Liaise with the project team and external parties (including Client and Supply Chain) to coordinate the distribution and flow of documents, facilitating effective communication and document sharing across all project phases.
* Provide training and support to project team internal and external stakeholder members on document control procedures, processes and systems, ensuring that all personnel are aware of the document management policies and fostering a positive quality culture throughout the project.
* Generate and maintain reports on document status, progress, and compliance for project teams and senior management.
* Oversee the proper archiving of project documents and records in accordance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* In-depth knowledge of electronic document management systems (EDMS) and related software applications.
* Familiarity with industry standards for document control, quality management systems, and the specific regulations affecting document management within the engineering sector.
* Understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance aspects related to document and records management, including data protection laws.
* Ability to lead and manage a team of document controllers, including setting objectives, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
* Strong organisational and planning skills to manage large volumes of documents and complex information systems. Ability to prioritise tasks and delegate effectively.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with project teams, stakeholders, and external parties, and clearly conveying document management processes and requirements.
* Analytical and problem‑solving skills: ability to analyse document management processes, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and compliance.
* Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and quality of documents.
* Competence in using IT systems, databases, and office software; adaptability to new technologies and software in document and information management.
* Significant experience (typically 5‑7 years) in document control or information management, preferably within engineering, construction, or a related technical field.
* Exposure to project management practices and an understanding of how document control activities integrate with project execution.
* Proven experience in leading a team, managing staff, or overseeing document control functions on large projects or within a sizable organisation.
