We are looking for a Retail Loss Prevention Officer to act as the day‑to‑day point of contact for loss prevention across our retail estate. This is a hands‑on, field‑based role focused on supporting stores to reduce stock loss, manage risk and maintain a safe and secure trading environment.
Key Responsibilities
Store Risk, Audits & Shrink Reduction
* Conduct regular store visits and re‑audits to assess risk ratings, clearly communicating findings and tracking progress through agreed action plans.
* Support stores to reduce stock loss by helping them build and deliver effective stock loss action plans, using coaching, training and education to build confidence and capability.
* Assist in the company stocktake programme, supporting preparation, delivery and follow‑up actions.
* Support investigations into stock loss, cash discrepancies, theft, fraud and policy breaches, ensuring accurate reporting in line with company policy and legal requirements.
* Contribute to achieving the company stock loss target of 1% or under through effective store support, training and follow‑up.
Training, Coaching & New Store Support
* Deliver loss prevention training to store teams, ensuring 100% completion of the virtual loss prevention training across the store estate.
* Provide in‑person training sessions where required, including for higher‑risk stores or new initiatives.
* Support new store openings by delivering in‑person loss prevention training, ensuring stores are fully set up, compliant and confident ahead of trading.
* Actively coach store leadership and teams on loss prevention best practice, stock security and risk awareness.
Partnership & Ways of Working
* Work collaboratively with store leadership teams to promote a culture of awareness, accountability and integrity.
* Build strong relationships with store managers, balancing loss prevention priorities with a positive and customer‑focused shopping experience.
* Act as the main point of contact for store teams regarding security guards, supporting effective communication and issue resolution.
* Build strong working relationships with retail teams and Head Office stakeholders.
Compliance, Safety & Security
* Work closely with the Compliance team to ensure loss prevention practices align with company standards and legal requirements.
* Support staff and customer safety through effective safety initiatives, incident response and management of physical security systems.
* Assist in reducing crime by identifying security threats, supporting investigations and escalating risks appropriately.
* Work confidently and professionally with external authorities and enforcement partners where required.
Continuous Improvement & Commercial Focus
* Support the Loss Prevention Manager by trialling and embedding new loss prevention tools, technologies and ways of working within stores.
* Support the Loss Prevention Manager with day‑to‑day administration, reporting and tracking performance against agreed stock loss targets.
* Contribute to internal loss prevention activity alongside the Loss Prevention Manager.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Experience in loss prevention, security or operational roles within a retail store or regional environment.
* Strong coaching and support skills, with the ability to influence store teams positively.
* Excellent communication skills, with confidence working across stores and Head Office teams.
* Effective time management and planning skills in a field‑based role.
* Results‑driven mindset with a practical, proactive approach.
* Confident using IT systems for reporting, audits, investigations and data tracking.
* Flexibility to travel regionally and visit stores as required.
