Overview of the role
Whether you are new to the industry or have come from a social care background, we welcome your application. You’ll be provided with in-house training when you start work with Choice Care. Working alongside our permanent staff team, not only will you make a huge difference to people’s lives, but you’ll also enjoy days out, trips away, and participate in many activities, all aimed at ensuring the people we work with are safe, happy, and lead fulfilling lives.
Key duties
* Providing personal care – including bathing, toileting, dressing, and help with feeding
* Medication administration
* Assisting and engaging in residents' daily activities, hobbies, or outings
* Following care plan guidance alongside company policies and procedures
* Developing an open, honest, and considerate working relationship with residents
* Maintaining written daily records
* Attending and completing training, as required

Where will you work?
Downham Lodge is an eight-bedroom residential home for men and women with mental health conditions, supporting a range of conditions including personality disorder, schizophrenia, and acquired brain injury. Residents are relatively independent and can prepare and cook their own meals with minimal support. The home is sociable and active, with residents enjoying communal areas and outings. Located in Southsea, near the seafront and Portsmouth amenities, the recently refurbished home features contemporary ensuite bedrooms, shared dining and lounge areas, a garden, and activity facilities including gym equipment, arts and crafts materials, and sports gear. The home organizes regular trips and supports residents’ engagement with local colleges, online courses, and community activities.
