This position qualifies for a market supplement payment of £200 per month. Please note this additional payment will be reviewed on 31 March 2026.

Following the continued expansion of the Through Age Wellbeing (TAW) Occupational Therapy team, this new Senior OT role has been created to coordinate team triage processes and activities. Close working links with other senior OTs, technology-enabled care, enablement and the Penmorfa Centre for Independent Living are essential, creating exciting, broad clinical opportunities for professional development.
A qualified Occupational Therapist role is also being advertised to support with triage assessment and associated activities. The qualified and senior OTs will work closely in continuing to develop innovative front-door services in Ceredigion Council, with ongoing support from other senior team members and social work colleagues.
* Overseeing, coordinating and implementing core Occupational Therapy skills and approaches to maximise independence from point of initial service user contact or referral
* Reducing risk to service users, carers and families
* Leading on Occupational Therapy elements of Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) evidence-based decision making during triage
* Supervising, mentoring and collaborating with the qualified triage OT
* Supporting junior staff to develop services and competencies, providing innovative service delivery approaches (virtual, open access advice/information, clinics, face-to-face, video, technology enabled)
* Contributing to the continued modernisation and support of the broader OT service
* Playing a key leadership role associated with Occupational Therapy aspects of Penmorfa Centre for Independent Living
* Supporting the team manager and other senior OTs in their responsibilities
* Working productively with other Triage MDT leaders
Day to day:
You will draw on your specialist clinical and leadership experience to coordinate the triage of new referrals for the TAW Occupational Therapy team, ensuring a high standard of Occupational Therapy presence and support within the triage and assessment team 5 days a week. You will lead on decisions related to urgent intervention and prioritisation. In practice this will involve both direct clinical and non-clinical responsibilities to ensure every potential service user is treated as an individual and receives the most appropriate response to maximise independence, access timely information, advice and appropriate services, giving people the opportunity to achieve what matters to them.
You will develop expert knowledge in all clinical areas the OT team are embedded within. You’ll work closely with social work colleagues and other MDT stakeholders in line with TAW objectives aligned to the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014 (SSWBA). You’ll encourage and support other staff to work innovatively as part of Team Ceredigion, contributing to the holistic evidence-based approach promoted by Triage and Assessment Service and Team Ceredigion.
