We are seeking an Assembly Fitter to join our team working for a better future. This is a permanent position, with the preferred location in Havant, UK.
This role suits individuals with experience in hydraulics, industrial pipe fitting, heavy mechanical assembly, high-pressure testing (air and water), and assembly and process testing of composite and metal work assemblies.
This is a physically demanding role, but reasonable adjustments can be made to support the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
1. Assembly of heavy-duty shaftline seals, including positioning, assembly, and alignment of large multi-component seals using hand tools and lifting equipment.
2. Testing large multi-component assemblies with high-pressure water and air.
3. Ensuring all assemblies meet drawing specifications, torque settings, alignment, and test results.
4. Supporting engineering in development, assembly, and testing processes.
5. Cutting, bonding, and assembling rubber components.
6. Collaborating with manufacturing engineering teams to resolve non-conforming products.
7. Communicating with operations teams to ensure proactive measures to meet OTIF.
8. Engaging in continuous process improvement.
9. Adhering to health and safety procedures in all duties.
10. Supporting stores and packing teams according to business demand.
11. Performing rubber parts cutting and bonding to specifications.
12. Working across assembly, rubber, and stores operations based on workload requirements.
13. Main duties include assembling and testing seals to drawing specifications and working with rubber parts.
Candidate Requirements:
* Experience in a production or engineering environment is essential.
* Understanding of health and safety procedures.
* Mechanical and assembly aptitude.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Stores experience is desirable.
* Effective communication skills.
* Flexibility to work across logistics operations.
* Clean driver’s license is essential.
* Educational background to college standard or equivalent manufacturing experience.
* Proficiency with Microsoft and MRP systems.
Desirable Skills:
* Strong mechanical aptitude.
* Experience with high-pressure testing machinery.
* Understanding of mechanical engineering and assembly disciplines.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
