We are recruiting a qualified butcher full time in St Buryan to start as soon as possible.
This is a great opportunity to join an existing, friendly, specialised retail business working full time in St Buryan.
The successful candidates will be working within our farm shop butchering, selling and serving only the best locally sourced and home grown produce. Located less than 3 miles from the busy tourist destination of Sennen, and 6 miles from Penzance. The farm shop specialises in high quality Home grown Vegetables, Home reared meat, hand made pasties and a large selection of local produce and crafts.
Start as soon as possible.
Minimum 2 years experience required or a fully qualified butcher.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Receive, inspect & store meat upon delivery to ensure quality. Keep records of meat received and meat sales. Prepare & display meat for the butchery counter starting from sides / quarters. Undertake whole carcass butchery.
* Ability to work on own 'lone worker 'with due diligence and care.
* Ability to work as part of a team and positively aid business development. Pack, label and store meat accurately.
* Competent use of following machinery – mincer/mixer / burger machine / sausage machine / bacon slicer, meat dicer, scales / label machine editing.
* Ability to work savvy and keep waste to minimum levels.
* Ability and experience in monitoring and ageing meat. Manage rotation of meat stock Report to business manager when more stocks/supplies are required. Order meat from wholesale butcher. Ensure high standards of cleanliness are kept up in the butchery and refrigeration areas, in line with Environmental Health standards.
* Ensure highest levels of customer service at all times when working with team members, visitors & retail customers and suppliers.

Hours will be 5 days per week including Saturday 8.00 till 5.00, one day off during the week. Total weekly hours 40.
Availability in December and March-September is essential.
Excellent rate of pay dependent on experience.
