Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic applicant for a full-time Consultant post (10 PAs) in Integrated Sexual Health, starting in July 2025. The role involves working alongside a dynamic team of sexual health professionals at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The position is based in North Kent at the Riverside Clinic, Gravesham Community Hospital, and Overy Street Clinic, Dartford. The successful candidate will lead Clinical Governance for our service and develop high-quality clinical outcomes for our diverse local population. We seek someone who can work innovatively to deliver effective patient care and collaborate with our experienced multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work 10 PAs of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) (8 DCC and 2 SPA), with each PA being a 4-hour session. Consultations last 30-45 minutes depending on the clinic type. Each session includes 30 minutes of admin time for patient-related admin and supporting nursing staff. The role includes training of sexual health staff, medical students, and other professionals.
The applicant will attend and contribute to clinical and management meetings, including monthly team meetings, Clinical Ops meetings, and Directorate meetings. Time is allocated within the job plan for these activities, which can be adjusted as responsibilities evolve.

Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will contribute to our sexual health strategy aligned with national and Kent Public Health priorities, including ending HIV transmission (UK 2030 Zero HIV Transmission), increasing Chlamydia testing in those under 25, and reducing unplanned pregnancies through LARC contraception.
The role includes managing a caseload of GUM and HIV patients, supporting nurse-led clinics, and safeguarding vulnerable populations. The appointee will also manage junior medical staff, supporting their clinical and personal development, including new Foundation Year 2 doctors starting in August 2024.

Management and administrative experience

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 per annum/pro-rata
