Role Overview The school is seeking a passionate and skilled Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages to cover a period of maternity leave starting in February. The successful candidate will teach French and Spanish across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 and contribute to the positive, forward-thinking ethos of the MFL department. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in French and Spanish across KS3-KS5.Monitor, assess, and report on student progress in line with school policy.Contribute to curriculum planning and development within the MFL department.Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment with high expectations.Participate in departmental meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives.Prepare students for internal assessments, GCSE, and A-Level examinations.Support pastoral responsibilities, such as form tutor duties (if applicable).Collaborate with colleagues to promote a strong culture of language learning. Person Specification Essential Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).Relevant degree (e.g., French/Spanish, Linguistics, Modern Languages).Ability to teach French and Spanish to KS4, with at least one language to KS5.Strong subject knowledge and awareness of current MFL teaching approaches.Excellent classroom management and ability to motivate students.Strong communication and organisational skills.Commitment to safeguarding young people. Desirable Experience teaching both languages at A-Level.Experience preparing students for public examinations.Willingness to support extra-curricular activities such as trips or language clubs.Experience working in a high-expectation comprehensive school.
