Salary: £25,739.13 per annum
Contract: Permanent, 39 hours per week, full time, Monday to Friday
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Operative or Handyperson to join our team at HMP Portland, a category C adult male prison and male Young Offenders Institution, as an Escort/Fabric Operative.

HMP Portland functions like a self-contained town, requiring hundreds of staff to operate. Our Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
As an Escort / Fabric Operative, you will work alongside experienced colleagues such as Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to providing a secure environment.
You will undertake basic maintenance tasks, both planned and reactive, and escort contractors from external companies across the estate, prioritizing security and support.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS, seeking an Escort / Fabric Operative with:
* Experience in a prison environment
* Experience with hand and power tools
* Experience in construction, building fabric, or Hard FM environments
* Up-to-date First Aid at Work qualification
* Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
* Good Health & Safety knowledge
* Excellent organizational, time management, and people skills
