Anaesthetic Practitioner /ODP (Band 5) Theatre
We have seven modern theatres in Chelsea, including two robotic theatres, and two in our sister hospital in Sutton, and a well equipped recovery room. We recover a range of patients, from day surgery patients to those progressing to HDU, and from a wide range of specialties, including Sarcoma and Melanoma, Upper and Lower GI, Plastics, Head and Neck, Gynaecology, Urology and Breast. Our specialist recovery team is trusted, hardworking and supportive, and we’re looking for a motivated nurse or ODP who can demonstrate a real interest in high quality post-operative care to join us.
Main duties of the job
* As a member of the anaesthetic team the post holder will be expected to perform all the tasks of a specialist registered nurse/ODP with assisting and supporting the Anaesthetist to deliver general anaesthetic, sedation and local anaesthetics/regional blocks to our Theatre patients and patients in outside areas including Endoscopy, CT scanner and Interventional Radiology, in line with National and Trust Theatre Policy.
* The post holder will also work in conjunction with the rest of the theatre team to deliver high quality patient care whilst maintaining theatre efficiency and managing resources.
* Support the senior staff and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of clinical practice and staff development as part of the theatre team.
* To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor and role model with the support of their senior colleagues.

* To provide a suitable and safe environment for the physical, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing for staff, patients/clients and their relatives/carers.
* To take part in the out of hours theatre on call rota (following appropriate training/orientation).
Person Specification
* First level registration NMC or HCPC
* Recognised post registration Anaesthetic course if NMC registered
* Experience in Anaesthetics
* Mentorship / SSSA (Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment) Competencies
