About Us
Buy It Direct is one of the UK's fastest-growing online retailers, operating award-winning brands like Laptops Direct, Appliances Direct, and Furniture123. Built from the ground up, we rely on a complex, high-performing ecosystem of bespoke IT systems, third-party integrations, and cutting-edge e-commerce platforms to keep our business moving.
Here at Buy It Direct, we don't follow the normal ways of working. We think unconventionally. We are looking for ingenuity, tenacity, and people who want to get stuck into the real work from day one.
About the Role
Are you a tech-savvy problem solver who loves bridging the gap between business needs and software solutions?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Systems Analyst to join our IT and Business Change team. This role is all about evaluating our existing IT systems, figuring out how they need to adapt to support our rapid growth, and translating those needs into clear instructions for our development teams. It is the perfect entry point for someone who wants to build a career in IT Business Analysis, Solutions Architecture, or Technical Architecture.
What you’ll be doing:
* Acting as the crucial translator between our commercial/operational teams and our software developers.
* Gathering, documenting, and managing technical requirements for new system features, API integrations, and internal tool upgrades.
* Investigating how our current systems (“as-is”) operate and helping to design smarter, more robust (“to-be”) technical solutions.
* Assisting with system testing and Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure that the final technical output matches the original business request.
* Creating clear technical documentation, user guides, and system process maps.
* Troubleshooting system workflows and identifying technical bottlenecks before they impact the business.
What we’re looking for:
* A highly logical, systems-oriented mindset with a genuine curiosity for how software and databases interact.
* An understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and an interest in Agile working methodologies.
* Strong communication skills—you must be just as comfortable talking commercial strategy with a buyer as you are discussing API endpoints with a developer.
* A basic understanding of data structures, databases (SQL knowledge is a huge bonus), or system integrations.
* A proactive, hands-on attitude. We want someone who is eager to learn from our senior architects and quickly take ownership of their own technical projects.
* Up to £30,000 basic salary (dependent on experience)
* Your birthday off after a year of service
* Generous staff discount scheme across all our brands
