Birchwell Associates are recruiting on behalf of a growing mechanical building services contractor operating within the UK new build sector. Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to take ownership of multiple mechanical packages on residential and commercial construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and technically strong professional to join a well-established contractor delivering high-quality mechanical installations nationwide. The Role As Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the mechanical services scope from pre-construction through to handover. You will oversee site delivery, coordinate subcontractors and consultants, manage budgets, and ensure works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to programme. Projects typically include: New build residential developments and apartment schemes Purpose-built care homes Commercial new build projects (offices, mixed-use, light industrial) Project values generally range from £500k to £3m. Key Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of mechanical services packages across multiple sites Plan, coordinate, and oversee installation, testing, and commissioning activities Ensure compliance with design intent, specifications, building regulations, and health & safety standards Lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams Manage budgets, procurement schedules, labour, and resources Produce progress reports, programmes, and handover documentation including O&M manuals Chair site meetings and technical reviews Oversee use of internal cost control systems and approve weekly invoices Provide regular progress updates to senior management Identify and resolve technical or commercial issues proactively Requirements Minimum 5 years experience managing mechanical services on new build construction projects Strong technical knowledge of heating, hot & cold water systems, ventilation, and renewables (e.g. heat pumps, underfloor heating) Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications Solid understanding of UK building regulations, CDM requirements, and industry standards Commercial awareness with experience working under JCT and Design & Build contracts Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills Full UK driving licence Desirable Qualifications & Experience NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating (Level 3 preferred) SMSTS / SSSTS / IOSH CSCS Card (Supervisor or Manager level) Experience delivering projects for national housebuilders or care sector operators Package & Benefits Competitive salary up to £65,000 depending on experience Company vehicle or car allowance Laptop, mobile phone, and IT equipment Contributory pension scheme Private healthcare scheme Ongoing training and career development Long-term progression opportunities within a growing contractor Exposure to varied, high-quality new build projects
