1 Month Contract With A Local Authority Job Purpose: To provide high-quality, evidence-based social work interventions for children in care, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development. The role involves supporting and managing complex cases within a settled CIC team, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the continuous improvement of service delivery. Key Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring statutory visits, assessments, and care planning are completed on time. Conduct comprehensive assessments of children’s needs, risks, and circumstances. Develop and implement effective care plans, reviewing progress and outcomes regularly. Liaise with foster carers, birth families, and relevant professionals to promote positive outcomes. Ensure all interventions comply with safeguarding policies and procedures. Identify and respond appropriately to child protection concerns, escalating issues where necessary. Contribute to multi-agency safeguarding processes, including strategy meetings and child protection conferences. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior social workers and other team members. Contribute to team meetings, case discussions, and professional development activities. Promote best practice and ensure adherence to statutory and organisational standards. Prepare reports and attend court hearings as required. Maintain accurate records and case files in line with organisational policies and statutory requirements. Ensure compliance with legislation such as the Children Act 1989/2004 and local safeguarding policies. Contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement projects. Keep up to date with developments in social work practice, child welfare, and legislation. Requirements Qualified Social Worker with HCPC registration. Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in children’s social care, ideally within a CIC team. Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks, child protection, and looked-after children legislation. Excellent assessment, planning, and report-writing skills. Ability to manage complex cases and make informed decisions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff. Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and attachment theory. Experience working within multi-agency teams.
