* Working in the field of synthetic organic process chemistry, our Analytical Development (AD) Chemists are responsible for the development and optimisation of analytical methods to support process R&D, scale-up and manufacturing in a professional and safe manner. The role requires strong technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across our PR&D and Quality functions, to support timely and in-budget project delivery and production.
* Key Responsibilities
* Develop and optimise analytical methods (e.g. HPLC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS, NMR, titrations, spectroscopic techniques) for in-process control, product characterisation and release testing
* Generate high-quality analytical data to support process development, scale-up and transfer to manufacturing
* Troubleshoot analytical challenges and provide technical guidance to colleagues
* Maintain and calibrate analytical instruments, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results
* Prepare technical reports, method documentation and contribute to project records
* Lead analytical discussions with clients
* Work closely with PR&D, Quality and Production teams to meet project objectives and timelines
* Support technology transfer and customer projects as required
* Contribute to continuous improvement and implementation of best practices within the laboratory
* Ensure compliance with company health, safety and environmental standards
Person Specification
Qualifications:
* BSc, MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or closely related discipline
Experience & Skills:
* Practical experience with analytical techniques (HPLC, GC essential; LC-MS or NMR desirable)
* Track record in analytical method development and validation
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
* Ability to interpret and communicate data effectively
* Experience in a manufacturing, chemicals or pharmaceutical environment desirable (but not essential)
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy and documentation
