We are looking for an inspiring and proactive Prison Employment Lead to drive forward employment support for prisoners — from entry into custody through to successful resettlement in the community. This pivotal role focuses on building a culture of employment readiness, overseeing tailored support plans, and ensuring every prisoner leaves custody with a clear, realistic, and monitored Employment on Release Plan.
About the role:
You’ll lead a small, dedicated team and work closely with partners such as the DWP, Jobcentre Plus, and local employers to create real opportunities for prisoners both inside and beyond the gate. You’ll track employment outcomes at 6 weeks, 6 months, and 12 months post-release — ensuring ongoing support and sustainable resettlement.
Your work will include:
* Leading the delivery of the Employment on Release Plan across the establishment.
* Designing and delivering engaging pre-release workshops (CVs, disclosure letters, interview skills, work readiness).
* Championing veterans through the gate with tailored resettlement and employment pathways.
* Building and managing employer relationships, creating opportunities within Industry spaces and beyond.
* Monitoring outcomes, ensuring quality delivery, and contributing to continuous improvement.
About you:
We’re looking for someone with:
* A Level 3 qualification (or above) in Careers Information, Advice & Guidance, or Business Management.
* Proven experience in career services, employment support, or related fields.
* Strong partnership-building, leadership, and data analysis skills.
* A genuine passion for reducing reoffending through education, skills, and employment.
