We’re looking for an experienced and strategic Tax Manager to join our Financial Control team at the East of England Co-op. This pivotal role will see you managing a broad spectrum of direct and indirect tax matters, including Corporation Tax, VAT, and tax planning across the Society and its Group companies. You’ll lead a small team and be the go-to expert for internal stakeholders, while working closely with HMRC and external advisors. What You’ll Be Doing: Leading on all Corporation Tax and VAT matters, including returns and forecasting Managing capital allowances, R&D claims, and tax provisions (current and deferred) Advising on the tax implications of property transactions Supporting tax risk management and compliance with the Society’s tax strategy Leading and developing a small team of Finance Assistants Building strong relationships with HMRC and professional advisors Collaborating with wider finance teams to support business decision-making What You’ll Need: Professional qualification in tax (CTA) or accountancy (ACA, ACCA) Significant UK experience in Corporation Tax and VAT compliance Proven ability to lead tax reporting and provide expert technical advice Experience in tax planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication Strong understanding of relevant legislation and tax accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax/accounting software (e.g. NetSuite) Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach Why Join Us?
