Job Role
We seek applications for the role of Contracts Manager responsible for managing the maintenance of highways and associated works for the SW M&R. This includes managing the core activities of 24/7 emergency response, winter and routine maintenance, and the delivery of significant life-cycle works.
Applicants will have experience in managing a safety culture and proficiency in cost management, with a track record of delivering objectives through resource management within budgetary constraints.
Applicants will have 5+ years of experience in operational delivery within the TMC/Civils sector.
Duties
* Ensuring Traffic Management is compliant and delivered
* Ensuring plant and materials are available and managed cost-effectively
* Auditing the quality of the works and making recommendations for improvements and sharing best practice
* Ensuring permitting is in place for all jobs and monitoring starts and stops
* Ensuring the competency of operatives to carry out the works instructed
* Ensuring supervisors allocate correct costs to jobs accurately on a daily basis
* Supporting supervisors in early stages of employee relation cases and upskilling them to carry out investigations
* Supporting the Operations Manager in complex employee relations cases, including HR and H&S investigations
* Contributing to divisional planning meetings, audits, and external accreditations
* Supporting the Operations Manager in annual Occupational Health screening outcomes
* Supporting the Operations Manager in the annual training plan
* Other duties as reasonably expected
Person Specification
* Applied understanding of safety, quality, environmental issues
* Extensive understanding of construction methodologies and guidance in defined work streams
* Experience and proficiency in cost management and system utilisation
* Experience in delivering objectives through resource management within budgetary constraints
* Proactive, self-motivated, and independent
* Able to deliver under pressure and tight deadlines
* Effective oral communication, including training and presentation experience
* Good written skills, including report writing
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* ONC/City & Guilds/NVQ in relevant discipline/NRSWA-accredited (Supervisor)
