To assist with the planning and delivery of the Junior Saints weekly classes and contribute to the wider Childrenâs Services team in supporting programmes for children and young people, while working towards the completion of an SCQF Level 6 qualification in Sports Coaching. Sports Coaching: Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging multi-sport sessions for children and young people.\n\nChild Development & Safeguarding: Apply health, safety, and child protection principles in all activities.\n\nCommunication & Teamwork: Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues; work effectively in a team.\n\nOrganisation & Administration: Manage equipment, registration, and activity records efficiently.\n\nIT & Planning: Use digital tools (e.g. Microsoft Office) for planning, reporting, and communication.\n\nProfessional Development: Complete an SCQF Level 6 Sports Coaching qualification and gain practical coaching experience.\n\nPersonal Skills: Develop leadership, initiative, confidence, and adaptability in a professional sports environment.\n\nInclusivity & Role Modelling: Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants. Qualifications Required\n- Knowledge of a broad range of sports and their requirements.\n- Willingness to undertake training, including the SCQF Level 6 Sports Coaching qualification (required as part of the apprenticeship).\n- (Desirable) Existing UKCC or equivalent coaching qualifications.\n- (Desirable) Relevant qualifications to deliver exercise or fitness classes.\n\nQualities and Skills Required\nEssential Qualities\n- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.\n- Ability to build positive working relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.\n- Good organisational and time management skills.\n- Motivated, enthusiastic, and with a keen interest in sport.\n- Ability to work independently and use initiative.\n- Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office) for reports, planning, and communication.\n- Teamwork experience and willingness to collaborate with others.\n- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion.\n- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.\n- Must be able to pass a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check.\n\nDesirable Qualities\n- Knowledge of the local area and sports/recreation providers.\n- Previous sports coaching experience with children or young adults.\n- Leadership qualities and ability to remain calm under pressure.
