Organisation Reading Football Club Salary £ Competitive Location Bearwood Park Training Ground, Reading RG41 5DB Contract type Closing date 25 June 2025 Job Description We are looking for the right person to join our Academy Physiotherapy team as a Physiotherapist. Reporting to our Head of Academy Sports Science & Medicine, you will be responsible for delivering a high quality evidence based medical support service to all players in the Academy, with a particular focus on U9-U16's age groups. You will provide medical services to the Full-time, Part time and Hybrid programs at various Reading FC training venues
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
To provide accurate assessment and diagnoses of all academy player injuries
To provide, log and develop high quality evidence based treatment and rehabilitation of Academy players.
To liaise effectively with the academy coaching staff and wider MDT on a daily basis in order to keep them informed of player’s availability for academy matches and training.
To provide and assist with the delivery of an injury risk reduction program to U9-U16 squads in alignment with current evidence and departmental principles, in both group and individual settings.
To support and assist with the Academy Injury Clinic under the guidance of the Senior Academy Physiotherapist and the Academy Physiotherapy team.
To provide pitch-side trauma cover for all weekend fixtures and festivals and any other game as required.
To implement and follow clubs player screening and monitoring protocols on daily, weekly and yearly basis, e.g medical screening and squeezes
To assist with medical provisions to the Pro-Phase Squad and beyond, when appropriate, as directed by the Senior Academy Physiotherapist.
To provide and maintain up to date records of Screening Protocols as directed by the Senior Academy Physiotherapist and in conjunction with EPPP requirements.
To maintain accurate records of injuries and medical interventions on Club PMA.
To maintain and deliver up to date, comprehensive and accurate age specific (throughout the academy as directed by the Senior Academy Physiotherapist) injury audits at 6-weekly intervals.
To maintain and update qualifications and CPD by both contributing to the clubs medical department in-service program and attending external course, in liaison with the Senior Academy Physiotherapy
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
QUALIFICATIONS: Essential - BSc Hons Physiotherapy; HCPC Registered; Up to date ITMMiF pitch side Qualification as a minimum; FA Safeguarding Children certificate. Desirable - MSc in Physiotherapy or related studies; ATMMiF Pitch side qualification
EXPERIENCE: Essential - 1 years’ experience of working in Elite Sport, preferably a Team sport and within an Academy football environment.
KNOWLEDGE: Essential - An understanding of the EPPP process
SKILLS: Essential - Computer literacy, Including MS Office and Excel; Encourage, maintain and manage elite footballers
ATTITUDE: Essential - An understanding and commitment to equal opportunities in employment and sport; Strong commitment to developing elite athletes; Ability to work irregular and unsocial hours as required involving work outside normal office hours, at evenings, weekends and bank holidays
