Job Description:
Venator is recruiting for Senior Product & Application Technologists to join our Specialty PAD Team. The positions will be based in Wynyard and we are looking for a variety of skills covering the following disciplines: Actives Materials, Fibers and Films, and Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals and Food (CPF).
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and carrying out technical work programmes to support customer technical service and the development of new products and innovative technical platforms.
Job responsibilities include:
1. To design, plan, carry out and report novel and specialised experimental work programmes in order to expand the company technology base.
2. To develop and evaluate novel materials, application formulations, and/or product design technologies for the relevant end-markets to support business growth in existing and new technologies.
3. To synthesise and evaluate new materials, compositions and morphologies at the laboratory-scale in support of product development programmes and/or the development of innovative technical platforms.
4. To interpret and report the results of characterisation and application tests and material evaluations to meet both the data and the information needs of Scientists, Project Leaders, and Technical Support Managers.
5. Provide technical assistance and training, and problem solving, both in existing and new areas of study to support team development activities.
6. To contribute information, know-how, and ideas to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation and technical support programmes.
7. To improve and develop new applications testing and synthesis methods to meet changing business needs.
8. To ensure equipment used is maintained in a fit-for-purpose state to deliver optimised high-quality results in a safe and efficient manner.
9. Evaluate and report results, observations, and conclusions to Scientists and other technical contacts in the group, and present as required to the wider technical community.
Candidate requirements:
The roles require a minimum of a Degree, or equivalent experience, in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or other related science subject.
Job-Related Work experience, Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
1. Experience of carrying out research and development studies.
2. Experience of progressing development projects at pilot and plant scale.
3. Experience of using fibers or plastics technology & testing (extrusion, injection moulding, film production).
4. Experience of cosmetic, pharmaceutical and/or food application formulations and testing.
5. Knowledge of pigment science and technology.
6. Knowledge of materials chemistry testing.
