Job summary

We are excited to be recruiting a Lead Nurse to join our Nursing team. You will be leading a team that comprises of school and college nurses, a mental health nurse, clinical nurse trainers and nursing assistants.

Main duties of the job

Working closely alongside our Registered Manager for Health, you will be responsible for the operational delivery of nursing and mental health services across Seashell, maintaining our CQC registration and our Outstanding rating to ensure that the nursing service delivers the best possible care.

Originally founded in 1823, Seashell Trust is a nationally recognised and registered charity based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. The trust consists of the Royal School Manchester (RSM), Royal College Manchester (RCM), 17 residential homes (children & young adults), outreach, health and family services all based on one campus site. We provide care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment, communication disorders and autism. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
* Registered Nurse (RNLD, RNMH, RGA, RNC)
* Level 5 or above in Nursing or Operational Management
* English and Maths level 2 qualification
Desirable
* Further training in relevant areas of Autism, Learning Disability, Mental Health and Complex Needs
* BA/BSc or Master's degree in health related field
Personal qualities Essential
* Possess enthusiasm and positivity for working with children and young adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, mental health problems or complex needs including those whose behaviours may challenge.
* Desire to work in partnership with children and young adults and empower their decision making
* Highly empathic approach to working with families and carers.
Experience Essential
* Extensive experience of working with children and young adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, mental health, complex needs.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team including contributing to multi-disciplinary interventions.
* Experience in managing a high performing nursing team.
* Knowledge and experience of safeguarding theory and practice.
Desirable
* Experience of working with children and young adults and families in a community health team or SEND setting.
* Experience of delivering training to staff groups on topics relevant to children and young adults with learning disabilities and/or autism and complex needs.
* Experience of auditing a service in line with organizational and statutory requirements.
* Ability to review and update health policies in line with organizational and national guidance.
* Ability to manage a budget in a cost effective way whilst maintaining high standards of care.
