Purposes Primary Purpose : The primary purpose of the FPP C/PO PDSF Skill Controller role is to act as an RN Skills Controller for a cross-Defence Skills database, overseeing the award of Skills to individuals in consultation with Skill subject matter experts, maintaining the records of Skill, individuals' Skill Profiles, and Posts' Skill Requirements. Secondary Purposes Support the FPP WO in transitioning the RN to a Skills Based Organisation in accordance with the requirements of FPP Lead and the TSLD team. Monitor incoming skill requests and ensure they are actioned promptly by the appropriate Line Managers and subject matter experts (SMEs). Conduct audits of completed skill requests to ensure they have been processed fairly, consistently, and in adherence with PDSF policy. Maintain clear, accurate audit records for reporting and governance. Provide regular updates to FPP WO PDSF on the progress of their work strands. Provide guidance, troubleshooting, and policy clarification to ensure consistent use of the PDSF system. Support Line Managers, SMEs, and the Command with understanding processes, updates, and best practice. Build effective working relationships with Line Managers, SMEs, and unit leads to promote a strong skills‑management culture. Under the direction of the PDSF RN Lead, provide SME support to the RN communications team in order to promote PDSF across the Royal Navy.Identify opportunities to enhance skills processes or streamline workflows within PDSF. Support implementation of improvements, system updates, and new policies. Co-ordinate the outputs of a shared mailbox, including suggestions for new Skills, changes to process / policy, and support to associated projects. Undertake miscellaneous tasks as directed by PDSF RN Lead. Line Management C/PO PDSF is: Directly accountable to FPP SO1 Directly accountable to PDSF RN Lead Directly accountable to FPP PDSF WO First Reporting Officer (1RO) is FPP WO and Second Reporting Officer (2RO) is PDSF SO3 Authority In the conduct of their primary and secondary purposes, FPP C/PO PDSF is authorised to liaise directly with MOD departments, NCHQ, Defence Training Establishments, and associated Service and civilian organisations in the course of routine business, as defined by these Terms of Reference (TORs).
