We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Management Accountant to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract based at their Derby office.
This role sits within a fast-paced organisation delivering specialist operational services across regulated and asset-intensive environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the finance function through the production of accurate financial information and effective balance sheet management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare and support the production of financial statements, reports and budgets across various reporting cycles.
2. Maintain key finance schedules and supporting spreadsheets, ensuring they are updated and reconciled regularly in line with internal processes.
3. Produce draft trial balances with supporting commentary in accordance with the monthly reporting timetable for senior finance review.
4. Assist with the preparation of monthly management reporting for senior stakeholders.
5. Manage a range of balance sheet accounts, including accruals, prepayments and intercompany balances.
6. Maintain and manage the fixed asset register.
7. Process and post journals within the accounting system.
8. Prepare VAT returns for review by senior finance personnel.
9. Monitor statutory records and ensure submissions and payments are completed within required timeframes.
10. Maintain the accounting system in line with reporting deadlines, ensuring cash, purchase and sales ledgers are fully reconciled prior to period close.
11. Update and review the cashflow forecast on a regular basis.
12. Support the finance team with year-end analysis and audit preparation.
Candidate Profile
13. Previous experience working within a busy finance environment.
14. Strong ledger accounting experience and understanding of financial controls.
15. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate financial reporting.
16. Confident communicator with the ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
17. Strong IT skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
