Thisisanexcitingopportunityfora suitablyqualifiedindividual tojoinournewlytransformedColorectalRapid Diagnostic Service as an Advanced Specialist Practitioner.
The post holder will be a key member of the colorectal team and as an autonomous practitioner, they will be responsible fordeveloping and leading a comprehensive service for managing patients who are referred into the colorectal service on a two-week rule pathway. They will be essential in implementing a triage/straight to test model. They will act as an expert resource and senior clinical lead advising own and other specialist services across the region.
They will provide leadership and consultancy as well as develop and implement best practice in the clinical triage, assessment and subsequent management plan of patients referred into the colorectal two-week rule pathway in accordance with local and national policies. They will be responsiblefor this service and enabling the service to develop by providing expert practice, leadership, education and advising commissioners and clinicaldirectors. Theywillbe responsiblefortheproject management and implementationof a triage/straight to test pathway for colorectal patients.
They will enhance practice and research capability, providing professional clinical leadership to regional, nationalandinternationalmultidisciplinaryresearchprogrammes.
Main duties of the job
Withintheareaofspecialism,thepostholder willberesponsiblefortheeducationandprofessionaldevelopmentforalldisciplinesofstaffincludingspecialist registrars/clinicalfellows,contributingtothedeliveryofeducationalprogrammes,deliveredbytheorganisation and outside providers as appropriate. They will lead on practice and service development through the application of research and evaluation within the specialism.It is expected that the role is predominantly delivered in ACP led outpatient clinics or office based clinical triage telephone clinics. All of your work will be done in collaboration with medical, nursing and AHP colleagues.
The post holder would work closely with the colorectal surgical consultant team and other key stakeholders, utilisingteamandpatientfeedbacktodevelopandgrowtheservice.Asthisisanewanduniquerole,thepost holdermustbeflexibletotheneedsoftheColorectaldepartment;theroledirectionwilladaptandchangewith the service needs.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
1. Current professional Body registration ie NMC / HCPC
2. Professional clinical qualification or Working towards a specialist qualification
3. Non-medical Prescribing Qualification
4. BSc in appropriate clinical field
5. Evidence of continuing professional development
6. Masters level study in advanced Clinical practice or working towards this.
Desirable criteria
7. Teaching Qualification (7307/Certificate in Education/equivalent) or willing to undertake.
8. Advanced Life Support Qualification
9. Leadership/Management qualification or willingness to undertake
10. Advanced communication course
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
11. Highly motivated and experienced practitioner with substantive range of experience within a relevant clinical setting. Broad & advanced knowledge of clinical pathophysiology relevant to colorectal diseases
12. Sound level of knowledge in relation to relevant invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for colorectal diseases
13. Can accurately and effectively take a clinical history and has the knowledge and competence to support safe clinical decision making by interpreting multiple sources of complex information.
14. Broad and advanced knowledge and experience in managing both acute and chronic conditions relevant to the disease specialty.
15. Knowledge of current local and national guidelines and agendas relevant to management of suspected colorectal cancer
16. Proven leadership experience including delivering to targets and service improvement.
17. Experience of clinical research
18. Evidence of leading on clinical audit and translation to service development or QIP delivery

19. Experience in managing chronic health issues
20. Knowledge of more than one area of clinical practice – which may be directly relevant to patient specific group eg surgery, medicine, oncology, gastroenterology
