The surgery team has a fantastic new opportunity available for a permanent senior specialist position. The postholder will provide specialist input into pain services, oversee clinical pharmacy services to the inpatient surgical wards as well as being responsible for clinical pharmacy services to the Dental, Behcet's, Ophthalmology and Oral Medicine Directorate.

Advanced, current and relevant knowledge of surgical and peri-operative clinical pharmacy practice, including ophthalmology, dental services, evidence-based prescribing, risk management, antimicrobial stewardship, analgesia, anticoagulation, discharge planning, interface care, cost-effective prescribing and quality improvement.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as a Highly Specialist Pharmacist in Surgery, Pain & Specialist Services to deliver patient focused, quality care, based primarily at the Royal London Hospital. Their primary role will be to look after clinical and operational pharmacy services to the Pain Service, Dental Hospital, Behcet's and Oral Medicine as well as the inpatient surgical wards at The Royal London Hospital alongside the Lead Pharmacist, Surgery and Anaesthetics. They will have a team of rotational foundation and senior pharmacists and medicines management pharmacy technicians to support them.
The post holder will be expected to promote the responsible, safe and cost-effective prescribing of medicines within surgery, peri-operative care and pain to optimise clinical outcomes, minimise adverse reactions and improve medicines safety. The post holder will be supporting the Lead Pharmacist, Surgery and Anaesthetics to lead a team of staff in the delivery of high quality clinical, professional, and technical pharmacy service to all clinical areas and specialities within the division.

Experience
* Experience of working in a high acuity unit such as acute medical admissions, acute surgical admissions or another rotational role
* Proven experience of good performance in previous posts
* Previous evaluations or reviews of medicines
* Supported with development of care plans for EPMA and guidelines
* Managing incidents via the PSIRM framework
* Specialist knowledge in providing a hospital based pharmacy service to medical and surgical wards
* Extensive experience of teaching and tutoring in a hospital setting through training others e.g. trainee / foundation training pharmacists / nurses / junior doctors
* Experience in supervising and organising staff and work
* Experience of working on a high dependency unit
* Successful experience of managing & leading projects
* Previous experience of working in gastro, rheumatology or oncology

Qualifications
* MPharm or equivalent
* Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC

* GCP Training in Clinical Trials
* Crediantelled or willing to be credentialled as per RPS Framework
