EQUANS is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Hatfield on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday. The position offers a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits package.
Responsibilities
* To maintain commercial administration and management on a number of live projects or projects at pre-construction phase.
* Management and control of sub-contract accounts, variation accounts, procurement and commercial management on a designated project(s).
* Post-tender internal and external pricing analysis/assessment for sign-off whilst ensuring within budget.
* Conduct contract risk and opportunity assessment to identify these areas and plan for them accordingly to ensure pricing remains on budget without undermining Health and Safety.
* Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout.
* Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release, process subcontractor requests for payment and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner.
* Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designation project(s).
* To manage the day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting on a designated project(s) ensuring timely cash flow management for the Client and the group, and the supply chain.
* Complete QS documentation (i.e. client invoices) within deadlines ahead of MQS approval to ensure the business doesn’t occur any late payments.
* Assist the Estimating team with pre-tender due diligence to ensure consistent commercial goals, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases.
* Attend project and company related meetings.
* Ensure the company is neither compromised nor disadvantaged by a contractual or financial arrangement.
* Manage the costs on a project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of the cost situation.
* Sufficiently manage the financial aspects of the project to ensure the correct safety equipment is used at all times.
* Process subcontractor requests for payment and issue of notices in line with the HGCRA.
* Work with the Contracts Manager to track critical path delay analysis and assess financial impacts for potential claims.
* To take an overview and assist the Contract Manager with:
o pre-start planning and programming
o subcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate order and information to carry out their work
o assist with contractual issues and take action as required
* Assisting and liaising with the buying team on material procurement and buying opportunities.
* Where appropriate, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases.
* Provide assistance to the finance, accounts, and estimating teams as necessary.
* General day to day administrative duties.
* Prepared to travel to and from site and/or head offices within various geographical areas.
* To liaise with all staff, clients, consultants and residents in a professional manner, maintaining and developing professional relationships with the Client to help future business development.
* Assist in ensuring the Company is in line with Health & Safety procedures, to protect your safety and others around you.
* Any other reasonable management request.
Qualifications and Skills
* Skills and Abilities
o Technically knowledgeable of general regeneration and new build construction methods and how they are implemented including modern methods of construction, steel frame, concentre frame, JCT, NEC, PPC, etc.
o Experience with excellent influencing and negotiation skills with the supply chain and/or external clients to ensure the business maximises profit throughout contract schemes.
o Excellent verbal communication skills.
o Good level of numeracy.
o Good influencing skills.
o IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Project, Word etc.
o Full driving license.
* Experience
o Experience with JCT suite of contracts in a main contractor background (desirable for new build roles).
o Desirable to have a clear understanding of H&S – SMSTS or SSSTS preferred or willing to work towards gaining certification.
o Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a surveying role, reporting to a senior surveyor or commercial manager (or equivalent supervisory position).
