Overview

* Based in Dunmurry, location easily accessible by Translink train and Glider services
* Permanent contract
* Full time – 37.5 hours per week ( 2 x roles available)
* Salary: £24,570 per annum (£12.60 hourly rate)
* Closing date: Monday 10th November 2025

Job Purpose

Working under the direction of the Distribution Centre Manager/Warehouse Supervisor, you will play a vital role in processing donated clothing and other donations across Oxfam’s donation streams.

Your primary role will be to sort, grade, categorise, and prepare textiles for resale or recycling. Your work will help maximise quality items dispatched to our stores, reduce waste and carbon emissions whilst supporting Oxfam’s mission of helping those most affected by climate change.


Job Responsibilities

* Sort, grade, and categorise donated textiles (clothing, household textiles, accessories) by quality, type, seasonality, and resale potential.
* Identify higher value brands and items including rare and vintage pieces
* Separate unsellable textiles for recycling or upcycling.
* Process volumes efficiently, meeting daily/weekly throughput targets.
* Support loading/unloading of incoming textile stock.
* Support packing, tagging, labelling, and preparation for onward distribution to shops or resale channels.
* Maintain clean, tidy, and safe sorting zones and workstations.
* Adhere to health & safety, manual handling, and quality standards at all times.
* Assist with ad hoc tasks or process improvements as directed by the Distribution Centre Manager.

Essential

* Textile, material and brand knowledge
* Ability to work to targets and deadlines
* Speed and efficiency
* Ability to QC (Quality Control) in a fast paced environment
* Experience of working independently and as part of a team
* Self-motivated, reliable, and committed to continuous improvement.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills (fluency in written & spoken English)
* Good time management skills
* Ability to maintain the highest standards of housekeeping
* Ability to comply fully with Oxfam Ireland’s policies and procedures
* Eligibility to work in the UK


Desirable

* Previous experience in sorting donated goods, textiles, or second-hand operations (charities, recycling centres)
* Interest or knowledge in “The Circular Economy”

Comments

Oxfam Ireland is an all-island organisation working in two jurisdictions (NI & ROI), therefore, the post holder will be required to provide support all island when needed.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required from time to time to perform other duties as deemed reasonable and necessary by the employer. The job holder may also be required from time to time to work or attend training/meetings at another location. As much notice as is reasonably practicable will be given of any such change. The job holder must abide to a sensible and safe dress code as agreed by the Distribution Centre Manager.
