Overview
The role of the Ambulance Care Assistant involves the transportation of non-urgent patients to and from health/social care premises and private residences. This is a responsible role which requires a professional and caring attitude, as well as teamwork.
We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate Ambulance Care Assistants to transport our patients, who are frail or need specialist assistance, to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres and other similar facilities.
Responsibilities
* Transport non-urgent patients to and from health/social care premises and private residences.
* Work in a team of two, or on your own, undertaking duties in a variety of vehicle types.
* Attend and complete required training for the role (see Training section).
* Demonstrate a professional and caring attitude, maintain good communication with patients and the public, and work collaboratively as part of the team.
Qualifications
* Full UK manual car driving licence, with one year driving experience.
* A maximum of 3 penalty points will be considered for a minor motoring offence only.
* Ability to be flexible, adaptable, discreet, with a good sense of humour and local knowledge of the area you are applying to work in.
* Experience in caring for people with proven customer care and communication skills is desirable.
Training
Your role with EEAST PTS would start with a 3 week paid training course (Monday - Friday). The training involves clinical training to be a 'First Person on Scene' and patient transport driver training. It is your responsibility to attend in full, and successfully complete the course. The courses are held in Welwyn Garden City. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with Trust policy. You MUST be able to commit to undertaking the training course as outlined above.
