We care…
If you are concerned about the environment and what's going on around you - we have a lot in common!
We have an opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Civils Central Team working 4 days per week, to play a key role in delivering environmental excellence across our civil engineering projects. You will be instrumental in addressing major challenges and driving sustainable innovation.
This is a dynamic and hands-on role that requires excellent communication and collaboration skills. You will work closely with colleagues, clients, and statutory regulators to ensure environmental compliance, risk mitigation, and continual improvement.
Here are some of the activities you will be involved with…
* Provide expert environmental advice across all project phases, ensuring compliance with regulations, permits, and industry best practices.
* Undertake environmental impact assessments and develop plans aligned with our Environmental Management System.
* Ensure all works adhere to legal and environmental requirements, minimizing impact and promoting sustainability.
* Support accurate data collection, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of environmental performance.
* Conduct inspections and audits in line with ISO 14001, environmental legislation, and permit conditions, ensuring non-conformances are addressed.
* Offer incident management support, advising operational teams and promoting best practices.
* Ensure incidents and near misses are reported, categorized, and followed up with corrective actions.
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance sustainability within civil engineering projects.
We would love to hear from you if…
You have demonstrable experience in an environmental role within civil engineering, utilities, or a related industry. You should have a strong understanding of environmental legislation and its practical application in construction and infrastructure projects, along with experience managing environmental risks, developing environmental plans and reports, and interpreting environmental data.
You will be a proactive and solutions-focused individual who can provide expert advice to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Your excellent communication and collaboration skills will enable you to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and regulatory bodies, driving best practices and innovation in sustainability.
A degree in Environmental Science (or an equivalent qualification/experience) is essential, along with experience in consents and permitting processes related to construction projects. A genuine passion for environmental protection and continuous improvement is crucial, along with a commitment to identifying new opportunities for sustainable growth.
As this role is predominantly field-based, a full UK driving licence is essential.
