Job Description
We are seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join our Nature team in Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Dublin.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise and carry out desk studies and field‑based habitat, botanical, protected and non‑native invasive species surveys.
- Analyse, evaluate, interpret and present ecological data, support the production of Ecological Impact Assessments and design mitigation strategies.
- Deliver protected species and habitat surveys safely; analyse results, assess impacts and design and implement mitigation strategies.
- Serve as an Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects.
Qualifications
- Experience working in an ecology‑related role in the public and/or private sector, and designing, coordinating or leading field surveys.
- Knowledge of UK and European wildlife legislation and policy, particularly relevant to Wales, and the EcIA process.
- Experience in botanical identification, undertaking Phase 1 Habitat/NVC surveys and/or protected species surveys, preferably bats or dormouse.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to work, able to meet peaks in demand including occasional extended or unusual hours and working away from home for days or weeks.
- Strong report‑writing skills, with demonstrable experience producing a range of reports and providing ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
