Job Title: Mechanical Fitter Location: Boldon Our client is a specialist in the manufacture, repair, and service of heat exchangers, radiators, and pressure equipment, providing engineering solutions across multiple sectors. They pride themselves on technical excellence, precision, and a strong focus on safety and quality. Purpose To carry out workshop and on-site work on heat exchangers, radiators, and other pressure equipment as instructed, ensuring all work is completed to the required quality, cost, and safety standards. The role involves working independently or as part of a team, completing documentation accurately, and embracing continuous improvement practices to support operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Deliver effective and efficient refurbishment and repair services on all types of heat exchangers, either in the workshop or at customer premises (occasional overnight stays may be required). Carry out inspections and assessments, producing detailed reports, sketches, and supporting information for quotations. Assemble and install heat exchange systems based on engineering drawings and specifications. Ensure correct alignment, fit, and functionality of components during installation. Collaborate with colleagues and contractors to achieve seamless system integration. Conduct maintenance on heat exchange systems to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose and repair mechanical faults, carrying out component replacements as necessary. Perform quality checks and pressure testing to ensure compliance with industry standards. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair, and installation activities. Follow all Health, Safety & Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures at all times. Ensure all plant and equipment are safely maintained and operated, reporting defects immediately. Wear appropriate PPE and ensure safe practices are followed at all times. Identify potential hazards and participate in safety training and improvement initiatives. Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to achieve successful outcomes. Provide constructive feedback to support process and efficiency improvements. Fully engage with continuous improvement and creative problem-solving techniques. General Duties Conduct all work safely, in compliance with company policies, procedures, and current legislation. Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Company or Line Manager. Key personal skills Enthusiastic, conscientious, and self-motivated, with a proactive approach and strong attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and independently. Strong organisational and time management abilities.
