Train Manager – CrossCountry, Newcastle
We are recruiting for Train Managers to join CrossCountry at Newcastle. As a Train Manager you’ll work onboard Voyager trains travelling up to 125mph, helping to transport people across the UK.
Training
Your initial 10‑week training course will take place at the Customer Service Training Centre in Derby, covering all aspects of the role.
Responsibilities
* Check and sell tickets onboard services.
* Advise customers about their journeys, communicating individually and with groups.
* Identify and address customer needs and concerns.
* Maintain a comfortable onboard environment by fixing and reporting defective equipment.
* Manage luggage issues and other operational matters.
* Respond calmly and confidently to unexpected situations.
* Support the safety team by following all procedures, rules and regulations.
* Lead critical situations if required.
* Work as part of an on‑board team to deliver a memorable customer experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Live within a 1‑hour commute of Newcastle.
* Willingness and ability to work unsocial hours, weekends and shift work.
* Excellent customer‑service skills.
* Calm and confident under pressure.
* Physical ability to handle equipment and luggage duties.
* Must undertake a safety‑critical medical examination and a DBS check.
* 80% of duties require close attention to safety, hence a safety‑critical position.
Salary & Benefits
Salary is £35,371pa during the 10‑week training course, rising to £41,292pa upon completion. Benefits include:

Working Hours & Conditions
Average 35 hours per week. The position does not follow a standard 9‑to‑5 schedule and requires availability for shifts and weekend duties.
