This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Community Eating Disorder Service and to deliver the early intervention component (FREED: First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders) of the eating disorder service in Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP).
Role: FREED Eating Disorder Practitioner (Band 6). Contract: Permanent; Hours: Full time, part time or job share with flexible working considered. 37.5 hours per week (9-5 or similar).
Location: Jocelyn Solly Resource Centre, Macclesfield. Salary: £38,682 - £46,580 per annum (pro rata).
Closing date: 23/10/2025 23:59.
New starters begin on a fixed monthly start date aligned with the Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme (up to 3 weeks training).
Responsibilities
* Engage with and assess individuals eligible for the FREED early intervention pathway and provide appropriate interventions.
* Deliver rapid intervention for younger people with a recent onset eating disorder, with emphasis on family involvement, social media factors, and transition planning (e.g., moving to adult services, university, employment).
* Coordinate care as part of the SOUTH East Cheshire Eating Disorder Service and liaise with FREED workers across related services.
* Provide care using evidence-based treatments adapted to developmental needs of first-episode illness.
Note: The FREED care package emphasises early intervention to reduce illness entrenchment and family impact.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Professional qualification (e.g., Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Counselling); Registration with NMC or HCPC and/or accreditation with BACP; willingness to undertake post-qualification study in a specific psychotherapeutic approach (e.g., Post Qualification Framework Module or Postgraduate Certificate) or willingness to work towards this.
* Essential: Knowledge of NICE guidelines and other policy documents influencing Eating Disorder Service Delivery.
* Essential: Experience of working in Mental Health post-qualification/accreditation; ability to carry and maintain own caseload.
* Desirable: Experience of working with people with eating disorders; experience delivering 1:1 psychological interventions.
