Technical & Innovation Manager

We at phs Compliance, are looking for a technical expert to support the Head of HSQE and Technical with implementing a robust auditing and verification process aligned with the business accreditation and management system requirements. Whilst also managing all the technical function activities, KPI & SLA.
The right person for the role will have strong technical and operational leadership skills in Compliance, who can provide overall functional guidance, foster a collaborative culture, drive continuous improvement across the business with the ability to implement innovative technologies, systems, and processes, and support the effective execution of best practices throughout our organisation.
Key responsibilities of the role:
1. To play a key role in the increase in the quality and the professionalism of the services provided to our clients by way of implementing and maintaining the systems required so that we achieve the very highest standards in both the technical and administrative aspects of the Testing Division.
2. To monitor all statutory and non-statutory standards relating to the services provided by the Testing Division to ensure continued compliance.
3. To ensure that any quality management system related matters, and technical support required by anybody in the company is of the highest quality and “on demand”.
4. To oversee a team of Technical Auditors to ensure scheduled OSWI and PSI audits are completed on all FW and PAT engineers.
5. To act as the Quality Manager Deputy for the business ensuring the requirements of BS EN 17020, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 are met by the business.
6. To apply and make use of new technologies and standards.
7. To ensure that the company’s systems and “day to day” working practices comply with legislative, regulatory and accreditation bodies high standards.
8. To ensure the on-going accuracy and usability of the Fixed Electrical Installation department and the Electrical Installations Divisions test equipment.
9. Dealing with technical queries from all phs Compliance employees and clients
10. To review monitoring and technical inspections of field-based Engineers
11. The initial training of new Engineers and the ongoing training and continued professional development of all electrical technical staff.
12. Support the testing division’s UKAS accreditation as an Inspection Body
13. Acting as the main focal point with the NICEIC
Skills and Experience required for the role:
14. City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing
15. BS 7671 18th Edition 2018
16. Relevant electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years electrical management experience.
Desirable attributes:
17. NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent H&S qualification) or willingness to work towards
18. MIET member of the IET or willing to work towards
19. Registered with the engineering council to EngTech or willing to work towards
20. TechIOSH member of IOSH or willing to work towards
21. Lead auditor qualification (ISO 9001).
