An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Audio Typist (Cardiology)/ Cardiac Cath Suite Administrative Cover to join the Cardiology Service. The role will involve working within a friendly and welcoming multidisciplinary team.

It is equally important and essential to the role that courtesy, tact and diplomacy is maintained at all times towards all staff and patients.

Main duties of the job
The main tasks will be to complete Audio Typing for clinics and Cath Suite Procedures using digital dictation. It is essential that clinical letters and reports are completed within the appropriate time frames, with accuracy and efficiency.
To also provide efficient administrative services to the Consultants, Specialist Nurses and other members of the Cardiac Team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Type clinical correspondence using the audio dictation system, according to clinical priority and chronological order in line with agreed standards of speed/accuracy.
* Prioritise own workload appropriately, referring any service concerns to the Admin Lead in a timely manner.
* Be proficient in the use of local Cardiology systems and Microsoft Office software including TOMCAT, Bighand, Medi-Viewer, Excel, Outlook, Word and Teams.
* Be able to concentrate in a multi‑task environment and deal with frequent, unpredictable interruptions.
* Provide general administrative support where required across the whole function of the administration/secretarial team.
* Maintain confidentiality at all times ensuring that all data is kept secure and confidential in accordance with the Trust’s policies.
2a. Cath Suite Administrative Cover
* Receive patient queries via the telephone and liaise with appropriate staff to ensure the query is resolved in a timely manner.
* Undertake the scanning and uploading of relevant documents to Medi‑Viewer following patient attendance to the unit.
* Produce the agenda for patients to be discussed at the MDT with guidance from the lead consultant.
* Ensure that all clinical information for these patients is available in preparation for the MDT.
* Ensure post‑MDT correspondence is sent to external and internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
* Liaise with the Radiology staff who manage the Image Exchange Portal to facilitate the migration of images to and from the Trust.
* Be aware of NHS waiting time targets.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent including English and Mathematics.
* RSA or equivalent audio typing experience.
* NVQ 3/4 in Administration or working towards.
* Computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent.
Experience
* Experience of meeting deadlines involving high volumes of data within strict/tight timeframes.
* Experience of working within a team and independently.
* Experience of accurate data collection and input.
* Experience of working within an Administrative role.
Knowledge
* Understanding of the need for confidentiality awareness at all times.
* Understanding of the importance of accuracy in a data collection.
* Knowledge and use of Microsoft software including Word.
* Understanding of the importance of working to deadlines.
* Knowledge of 18‑week and Cancer Pathways.
* Knowledge of NHS IT systems including IPM, ICE and Tomcat.
All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering their first six months in post.
