The School:
This school is a special academy located in Camberley, and provides a safe learning environment and outstanding education for pupils aged 7-19, typically with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and / or Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN).
The school has a Therapy Department which is staffed by qualified therapists and therapy assistants, and there is a fully equipped area for Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration. Therapists are based around the school and have a clinic room for individual work. Much therapy follows a 'blended' model of therapeutic intervention which is delivered across the curriculum, and there is close liaison with teaching staff and parents. The therapists are involved in the ongoing development of the school, providing training and support for teachers and staff.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to 'get your foot in the door' and work closely with the therapists, enabling you to expand your knowledge, skillset, and gain relevant practical experience, which is invaluable for you, as an aspiring Occupational Therapist.
