Are you a pastoral priest or chaplain who would enjoy care of a community without the responsibility of running a church?
We are looking for someone with a deeply pastoral heart to love and care for the congregations and community around the cathedral.
We offer a fixed term 3-year appointment on a House for Duty basis for a pastoral priest (or appropriately licensed lay minister) who will enable the Dean and Chapter to improve and develop pastoral care of the cathedral community.
Under the oversight and direction of the Dean and canons the Cathedral Pastor will lead and develop pastoral care of the cathedral community including the congregation, volunteers, staff and the sick and dying, and ideally be able to take responsibility for the cathedral’s ministry of reconciliation and spiritual care. In addition to playing a hands-on part in the pastoring of our congregation, the candidate will also lead and manage the pastoral visiting, home Communion and Day Chaplaincy teams.
This post may suit an ordained self-supporting priest in the Church of England, possibly recently retired, but may also appeal to lay ministers with extraordinary pastoral abilities. Appointment of the successful candidate is subject to the receipt of two satisfactory references, and will also require a satisfactory DBS with children and adults barred list check.
