Job Description Position: Criminal Defence Duty Solicitor Location: Derby Salary: £30,000 - £60,000 DOE We are working with a reputable law firm in Derby that is looking for a dedicated Criminal Defence Duty Solicitor to join their growing team. Key Responsibilities: Caseload Management: Handle a variety of criminal defence cases, including Police Station and Magistrates Court representation. Out of Hours Rota: Participate in the out-of-hours rota for Police Station attendance. Business Development: Actively build and maintain local and regional networks to attract and secure new clients. Ideal Candidate: Hold a current practising certificate (SRA or CILEX) with a strong client following. Ability to manage your own caseload and work autonomously. Strong advocacy skills and willingness to conduct your own advocacy. Proficient in business development and marketing, with the ability to build a caseload. Excellent client care skills with a high level of technical competence. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and financial targets. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and proficiency in IT (Word, Excel, Outlook). If not already Duty Qualified, a willingness to become accredited.
