Tebelopele is a non‑profit health and wellness organization dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of communities across Botswana for over 20 years. Tebelopele facilities are situated in 18 locations serving residents in rural, urban and town. In August 2018, Tebelopele became Botswana’s first and largest non‑profit HIV Testing to integrated HIV‑SRH services which includes HIV and STI screening and treatment, TB screening, and family planning. PrEP and PEP are also offered.
Tebelopele aims at providing tailored, integrated facility‑specific support to close the gaps related to HIV/AIDS, treatment and care, particularly among AGYW and men. Through the USAID award Tebelopele will implement a client‑centred integrated prevention, care and treatment program that will support services delivery towards reaching HIV epidemic control. The activity will focus on the following four key results areas:
* Foster early detection of infection and address gaps in testing (especially among men and youth)
* Enhance early linkage to care and treatment for persons newly identified as HIV positive
* Increase adherence, retention and sustained viral load suppression for HIV and TB patients on treatment
* Scale preventive strategies to combat HIV infection among populations at risk
MEDICAL OFFICER X 1 – TEBELOPELE WELLNESS CLINIC : GABORONE
Reporting directly to the Technical Director, the Medical Officer (MO) shall be responsible for leading the implementation of the clinical service delivery component of the APC Project, ensuring quality service delivery consistent with national and international standards and guidelines. The MO will support TVCTC nurses to initiate ART and stabilize newly diagnosed HIV positive patients, and provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services to patients according to sound medical practice.
OVERALL PURPOSE
* Manage day‑to‑day operation of Tebelopele clinical services and all technical program staff; handle any clinical and community related issues.
* Lead the technical design, oversight, and monitoring of activities for HIV prevention, care and treatment.
* Strengthen community and facility‑based health delivery structures to optimise retention in care and treatment.
* Implement and monitor health‑management practices to ensure best practice and cost‑effective treatment/service delivery.
* Develop and review operational policies and procedures to ensure application of group and operational health‑care strategies.
* Create internal systems, procedures and frameworks to ensure efficient and cost‑effective service delivery.
* Compile appropriate health‑care reports according to organisational and legislative needs.
* Collaborate with DHMTs and health‑facility management to assess and improve integrated services within the district.
* Represent TVCTC in technical working groups and committees on HIV‑SRH integrated health services, TB, cervical cancer and other health‑policy related forums.
* Manage patient information in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements.
* Ensure appropriate patient examination, investigation and management according to accepted international health‑care practices and standards.
* Maintain thorough knowledge of STI, ART, TB screenings, FP, PreP and HTC guidelines.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
* Certified Medical Doctorate (M.D).
* SRH experience including ART/STI prescription and management.
* Valid registration with the Botswana Health Professions Council.
* Minimum three years of experience implementing public health programmes, especially HIV/AIDS and TB in Botswana.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
* Three years of in‑depth technical knowledge and experience in all components of the HIV/AIDS programme including prevention, treatment, care and support, PMTCT, and cross‑cutting areas such as health system strengthening.
* Knowledge and understanding of the key issues related to HIV prevention and sexual‑reproductive health.
* Knowledge of community‑level challenges impacting care and treatment delivery, and previous experience working with community‑based caregivers and support groups.
* Experience working and collaborating with diverse stakeholders such as local NGOs, government and staff.
* Proven leadership, interpersonal and cross‑cultural skills with the ability to build and motivate diverse teams.
