As a Welding Inspector the job holder will be responsible for undertaking inspections before, during and after welding in accordance with BS EN ISO 17637 (Non-destructive testing of Welds - Visual Testing ) on safety critical rolling stock vehicles and components. They will be required to investigate and report non-conformance and compile assurance documentation.
At all times they will need to ensure that the requirements of the Workshops BS EN 15085 (Railway applications. Welding of railway vehicles and components Requirements for welding manufacturer) & ISO 3834 ( Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials) control manual are complied with throughout the repair process.
All accountabilities are essential to met company mandated standards, to deliver quality welding and ensure a focus on consistent outputs and to ensure we have competent resources within out team to support Asset Performance & Capital Delivery(APCD) Fleet
1 - To complete inspections before, during and after welding according to the inspection and test plan, including any final inspections and testing in accordance with the inspection and test plan.
2. To carry out independent non-destructive testing of welds according to the inspection and test plan and to identify corrective actions needed to assure the standard of work.
