Overview
Applications are invited from ambitious, enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly multi-disciplinary Gastroenterology Unit at Wirral University Teaching Hospital. The successful applicant(s) will support in the delivery of a high quality, modern, recently redeveloped and well equipped JAG accredited 6 room Endoscopy Unit adjacent to a 26 bed Gastroenterology / GIM ward. The post will join a committed team of 10 Substantive Gastroenterologists on the Wirral Peninsula. The Gastroenterology Unit is sub specialised into hepato-pancreatobiliary (HPB) and luminal services. The Trust would be able to offer more than one post to help expand gastroenterology services on the Wirral peninsula. Appointment to the post would depend upon the quality and subspecialty skills of the applicant.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of high quality, modern, JAG accredited endoscopy services in a 6 room unit adjacent to a 26 bed ward.
* Be part of a committed team of gastroenterologists; contribute to a sub specialised service (HPB and luminal).
* Join the GI bleed rota as part of the Medical Division; participation in on call is not required for general medical on call duties.
* Potentially take on additional responsibilities or roles depending on service needs and subspecialty skills.
Qualifications and Skills
* Advanced skills within Endoscopy including ERCP/EUS and/or significant experience in managing complex inflammatory bowel disease would be desirable.
* Broad based gastroenterology background with subspecialist clinical or endoscopy interests; luminal practice is a focus, HPB experience is also acceptable.
* Evidence of ability to work within a team and contribute to service expansion on Wirral peninsula.
