We are seeking one full time Bereavement Support Officer position to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the Council's Bereavement Services.
What will be expected from me?
1. You will be experienced in working within a busy office environment as part of a team
2. To be able to communicate fully with, and maintain good customer relationships, with staff, Members, community representatives and external customers
What I might be doing?
3. Serve as the first point of contact for funeral directors and bereaved families, always with empathy and compassion.
4. Take bookings for funerals and all associated tasks, processing statutory paperwork with accuracy and within set time limits.
5. Assess all incoming service requests to determine priority and appropriate level of response using set guidelines to deal with the initial response
6. Answering telephone call and responding to emails assisting with responses and directing enquiries appropriately
7. Deal positively and sympathetically with service users, providing assistance and support.
8. To process memorial orders, receive deliveries and arrange installation of memorials
9. Ensure appropriate fees and charges are levied for work/services, records maintained accurately for the production of invoices.
10. Support the crematoria and cemetery staff in updating burial and cremation registers.
Essential requirements:
11. Appropriate training / qualification in customer care
12. NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Administration within 12 months
13. ICCM 1 day course on statutory declarations
14. Ability to work with Microsoft applications such as Outlook. Excel and word and bespoke IT management systems
15. Good general education to enable effective verbal and written communication
What can I expect?
16. There is one full time post of 37 hours per week.
