Senior Fellow in Advanced Ultrasound

* Purpose: Structured training and supervised clinical development (training contract)
Position Summary
This 12‑month post provides a training opportunity for a senior trainee or clinician with a keen interest, experience and ability in gynaecological ultrasound. The role combines supervised learning and independent clinical practice, with an emphasis on advanced obstetric and gynaecological imaging.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend and conduct advanced ultrasound clinics, including endometriosis, early pregnancy complications, adnexal masses, and routine early pregnancy scans
* Provide post‑abortion and labour ward support as part of the on‑call rota
* Participate in audit and, where appropriate, research projects related to gynaecological ultrasound
* Attend advanced scanning training courses during the year to maintain and develop skills
* Work closely with obstetrics and gynaecology teams (medical, midwifery, nursing, and support staff) to deliver integrated care
* Carry out other duties as assigned by the Trust, with agreement, where necessary
* Engage in regular review with the Clinical Lead in ultrasound after three months to assess progress and adjust the work programme
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum six years of specialty training
* Relevant higher specialty examination (e.g., FRCP, FRCA, FRCS)
* Portfolio of evidence demonstrating progression aligned with the curriculum for the specialty
* Completion of RCOG intermediate gynaecology scanning modules in gynaecology and early pregnancy (or equivalent)
* Ability to work independently in a supervised ultrasound clinic setting
