We have a vacancy for registered mental health nurses to join our team in Morar Ward, New Craigs Hospital. Morar ward is a 22 bed adult acute admissions ward with two beds for Alcohol detox who provide care for patients in Highland.
We are looking for motivated, solution focused, hardworking, dynamic individuals to join our multidisciplinary team. Quality improvement is key to improving patient experience, and as a staff nurse you will have the opportunity to participate in this process.
This post is suitable for third year nursing students qualifying in September. Morar ward has a supportive and motivated team of staff and as part of that team you will have the opportunity to develop a broad range of skills in a supportive environment. Your yearly appraisal and two monthly management supervision plus training opportunities will form the backbone of your development, and all newly qualified staff will complete NHS Scotland's flying start module. This post is open to newly qualified mental health nurses.
The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable effective communication to the multidisciplinary team and other agencies involved in care delivery.
Responsibilities
* Coordinating shifts, assessing patients and developing plans of care.
* Work with colleagues in the multidisciplinary team to identify risks behaviours, appropriate interventions and barriers to discharge from hospital.
Benefits
* Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
