Main duties of the job
To provide nursing services to the practice population, including screening, assessment, advice and treatment within the professional competence of the post holder. Extra training will be provided for new duties undertaken as required. The post holder will work in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct and would be expected to act professionally at all times.

Located on the outskirts of Ipswich town centre, Cardinal Medical Practice is the largest medical practice in Suffolk and was formed as a result of a merger between Chesterfield Drive, Deben Road and Norwich Road Surgeries. The practice is vastly dedicated to offering high quality care to a population of approximately 30,000 patients.
The practice has a clinical team of 4 GP Partners, 10 Salaried GPs, 2 GP Registrars, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physicians Associates, Practice Nurses, Nurse Associates, Healthcare Assistants, Care Co-ordinators and additional healthcare professionals. The team is supported by Management and a large administrative team.
Job responsibilities
Provides care directly to patients without referral via another senior nurse or doctor.
To undertake general nursing duties within the nursing team, including:
* Immunisations Adult, Childhood and Baby
* Cervical smears
* Contraception advice and pill checks
* Knowledge and capabilities to manage any Chronic disease / Long Term Conditions would be preferable but is not essential.
* To work to practice protocols and guidelines.
* Provide general and specific nursing care in a Primary Care setting.
* Provide health assessment and screening to the practice population within agreed protocols.
* Implement a systematic approach to care, to include efficient and accurate record keeping for the benefit and safety of patients.
* Assist with the development of work policies and protocols within agreed guidelines to provide the optimum standards of care.
* Provide nursing treatments to patients working to agreed protocols.
* Advise and treat patients with minor ailments.
* Provide health promotion to the practice population.

Experience
* The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment, such training to include:
* Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development
* Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work
* Monthly training sessions as necessary
